We’ve always believed in offering a personal service, something different from most agents. But like anyone in this business, there’s always the temptation, more sites, more staff, more stock on the books. The bigger, the better, right? That’s what the franchise model often seems to push everyone towards.
We went through that phase ourselves, maybe 15 or 20 years ago, when we opened our second office in Stroud Green. At the time, it felt like the right step. We wanted to grow our presence, expand our market, and compete with the larger players and for a while, it made sense, but over time, something became clear our real strength was never about size of our business. It was always about personal service, local knowledge, and genuine care for our clients.
Chasing growth is exciting, but it doesn’t always align with who you are. A trip to Italy really brought that home for me. My mum’s hometown is tiny. There’s one small Alimentari, a family run food shop.
On the outskirts, of course, there are supermarkets, big, bright, efficient, and full of everything you could possibly need, but the experience couldn’t be more different.
In the little shop, you’re greeted by name. They know what’s fresh that day, what’s best, what you like, what you might need before you even ask. It’s not polished or flashy, it’s warm, human, and personal in a way the supermarket simply can’t replicate.
Some people love the big chains, the scale, the choice, the system behind it all. That’s just not us. What we’ve learned, what we’ve come to understand is simple. We don’t need to be the biggest agent in North London. We don’t need multiple offices or the largest stock levels. We don’t need to chase growth for growth’s sake. What we do need is to lean into what makes us different.
That is being genuinely personal and knowing our clients, offering specialist local knowledge, being available and accessible when it matters, acting more like trusted advisors than just agents. That’s where we add the most value and that’s where we want to stay.
Refining, not expanding, becoming more focused, more consistent, and more present in the way we serve our clients, in the end, bigger isn’t always better. Better is better!
With this in mind, we have decided to consolidate our two offices in Finsbury Park and Stroud Green into our Blackstock Road branch, which will now serve as our main hub. This brings everything under one roof, simplifying how we work, improving day to day communication, and allowing us to give more time and attention to our clients and community. The same team, local knowledge, and hands on approach remain at the heart of what we do.
In many ways, this feels like coming full circle. After 30 years in Finsbury Park, it all began with our Blackstock Road office and now we return to solely operating from the place where the company was first built. We’re not stepping back, we’re focusing forward, in the end, it comes down to this :
“It’s not about being bigger it’s about being better where it matters most”
